Safety & Rescue Courses

Foundation Safety and Rescue Course - THIS COURSE IS NOW FULL FOR 2017

This 1 day course covers the training required to gain a Foundation Safety & Rescue certificate.  The course is a pre-requsite for the BCU UKCC Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Paddlesport and is scheduled for the day before the Level 1 course.

Pre-requisites

• Boat-based participants need to either hold the current BCU 2 Star Award or be of equivalent ability due to the paddling environment and the boat control required to complete the course
• Bank-based participants accessing the course are not required to hold the BCU 2 Star Award; however, they should be prepared to fully participate in all relevant aspects of the course
• Be able to swim in normal paddling clothing suitable for the prevailing conditions
• Be a minimum of 14 years of age

White Water Safety and Rescue

This 2 day course covers the training and assessment required to gain the White Water Safety and Resuce certificate.  This qualification is necessary for the White Water Kayak Leader and Open Canoe Leader (formerly known as 4 star) courses. 

Pre-requisites

• Confident in their ability to paddle on grade 2 water
• Be confident swimming in normal canoe clothing suitable for a moving water environment
• Be a minimum of 16 years of age
