Expressive Arts residentials in Scotland

Abernethy is known for its amazing adventure activity residential breaks for schools and other groups but out of season when the weather isn't particularly conducive to being outdoors all day, what better than to use our facilities as a flexible rehearsal suite and take part in some adventure activities for part-days?

Our centres have a range of lounges and practice areas and space to perform as well as benefitting from being in more remote areas where noise is not a problem!

Schools who have visited with their expressive arts groups have commented that their pupils coursework has dramatically improved and, without outside distractions, pupils have been fully focussed on the task in hand.

So, whether you are looking for a fun weekend or mid week fun time away or are looking to consolidate coursework, why not bring your school choir on a post-Christmas trip or your drama group as a pre-performance rehearsal break?  Have a read of our recent feedback...

"We have used Abernethy Centres for the last few years for our weekend residential music trips. The facilities of the centre are excellent and are fantastic for large and small scale rehearsals. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to help organise team building games and any other requests. We have always had a great experience at the centres and will be booking our next residential trip soon!"

"The Higher Drama students who attended the centre at Ardeonaig benefited in several ways. Some ways were obvious to us as staff and to them as pupils:The increased focus on specific drama work and activities.

  • The ability to have focussed one to one teaching.
  • The opportunity to allow peer assessment and receive feedback from classmates who were sitting the same exam.
  • The other factor, however, was one which none of the staff or pupils anticipated and that is of a group ethos and drive towards doing the best they possibly could. The sense of being “in it together” and mutual encouragement went a long way towards supporting weaker performances and producing a higher attainment for some of the less confident/able candidates. This was something which could almost certainly not have been generated in a school setting but was eminently clear to the whole group as the weekend developed.

Ardeonaig was an ideal location and setting for this weekend. The facilities were flexible and allowed for a relaxed yet challenging experience."
