Welcome to the Abernethy Centres in Scotland!
Dear Friend
As we celebrated our 40th Anniversary in 2011, Abernethy saw a great year of change.
Barry Edmondson moved from the School of Adventure Leadership at Abernethy Ardgour to take up the position of Training & Development Director within Trust Headquarters - he
was replaced by Dave Sanderson. Graeme Young took up the reins as Operations Director at Abernethy Ardeonaig with
Rosemary Simpson as his Deputy. The biggest change, however, has been the retirement after a phenomenal 36 years service of our Chief Executive Lorimer Gray after
a gala
celebration event in Edinburgh in December.
As I look to the future in my new role as Chief Executive, I am relishing the challenge that a change in leadership brings and am excited about the future for Abernethy. As a part of this Christian organisation I am passionate about the opportunities that we are blessed with to enrich lives in a truly positive way. Whether you are looking for a holiday, a school residential, a course or a job with us I am sure that you will have a fantastic experience. As the Bursary Fund becomes established my further aim is that more and more people, who would not previously have been able to, can join with the 12,000 other guests we welcome each year to enjoy the Abernethy experience.
As we weather the current economic climate, I am proud of what we have continued to acheive. Our staff teams are carefully selected and many use the opportunity to serve Abernethy as an expression of their Christian witness. They come from many different backgrounds, many countries and are at very different stages in their faith. What they do have in common is a desire to make your visit comfortable, safe and life changing, in the best possible way.
So, as we look ahead to the next 40 years do come as a guest or a Team member and join us to Live the Adventure!!
Dr Phil Simpson, Chief Executive
