Gap Year Overview

Abernethy has a number of exciting Year Out opportunities in Scotland at our four Christian Adventure Centres. These one year positions are ideal for school, college or university leavers looking to serve God before embarking on further study or a career– they are also ideal for anyone looking for a stepping stone into the outdoor industry. Also available is a range of instructor training courses at the Abernethy School of Adventure Leadership based at Ardgour.

Instructor Training
Based at the Abernethy School of Adventure Leadership, these residential courses are designed to help you develop your skills in outdoor adventure activities. We have four full year or part year programmes available, including ski instructor courses in St Luc, Switzerland. Whether you want to develop your own personal skills to give you greater confidence, or to become a fully qualified instructor, we have a course for you. [LEARN MORE]

Gap Year/Year Teams
Are you looking for a fun and challenging Year Out? Our year teams play a vital role in the smooth running of our centres. We have one-year positions in housekeeping, food services and maintenance. As well as a salaried day job, you will also be actively involved in a vibrant Christian community and will have the chance to try outdoor adventure activities in your free time. A desire to share the Gospel is vital as you will assist with our evening Christian programme for guests – Time Out. Many of our ‘Gappers’ are also involved with local church youth work.
