Autism Friendly Family Fun

The 2019 Autism-Friendly Family Week has been cancelled.

About the Week

Supporting families with a child or children on the autistic spectrum and with additional complex behaviour needs, this annual summer break is a great time for families to come together and share a fun filled activity holiday at Abernethy Barcaple in a safe environment.  We offer a bespoke programme allowing you to choose from a range of activities suitable for your family.

We understand that children with autism find a change of environment and routine can be very challenging and that they can struggle to communicate and plan aspects of daily life.  Our instructors help build trust from the moment you arrive, understanding the need to engage the young person in the given task, building on social skills needed to form relationships, trust and independence through a range of activities.  The success factor is easily seen as children and families overcome challenges and obstacles with nurturing input from our team.

What is included in the price?

  • Our summer family week offers great value for money
  • 4 nights full board accommodation, including evening meal on arrival and packed lunch on departure day
  • A full adventure activity programme, including instruction and equipment hire
  • Young people’s activity options
  • Evening programme
  • Use of sports facilities
View the flyer here.

What does the week look like?

We want to keep our programme flexible, as we are aware that those coming on the week will have individual needs that may not fit with the current programme; we will talk to each family to find out what these needs are.  In the meantime, see our sample programme here
