Abernethy Glen Kin, formerly owned and managed by the Glen Kin Trust offers basic bunkhouse accommodation in rural Argyll. We welcome a wide range of properly constituted groups, including vulnerable youngsters from disadvantaged backgrounds as well as uniformed organisations, youth clubs and school groups.
Groups make their own entertainment at Glen Kin. Previously the bunkhouse has hosted theatre workshops with a large marquee on the lawn, art and craft camps with overflow accommodation in tents and Brownie pack holidays. Everything at Glen Kin is an adventure, whether it be chopping wood for the stove, taking a turn at cooking the dinner or simply being away from the pressures of daily life.
Our aim is to provide opportunities for young people from a wide variety of backgrounds to enjoy the adventure of spending time in a remote environment, getting to know each other, working and playing together and gaining confidence in unfamiliar surroundings.
A regular group at Glen Kin is the GKexperience, Alex Bauer the project leader says: “For us Glen Kin is a place of learning, it’s a place of development, it’s a place of connection and for our young people it’s a home away from home. The best thing about Glen Kin is the vast amount of open space that makes it the perfect place to base our work and to see real change in the lives of the young people we work with.”
Please note that Glen Kin is a self-catering property. However the following facilities are on-site:
