Sailing & Canoeing

Sailing, whether in dinghys or big boats, is a brilliant way to get out on the water. Even better is the experience of falling in the water (or trying to keep dry!) as your dinghy sailboat responds to a light touch, working with your team mate to keep the boat afloat and learning how to navigate and control a craft. This activity is based from our Nethybridge Centre on Loch Morlich at the foot of the Cairngorm Mountains. In the future, yachting will be by prior arrangement through our Trust Office.

MOUNTAINEERING & HIKING

Step right into the mountains and over the streams, as you connect with the beauty of the place around you. Whether it’s enjoying a walk along a sheltered loch, or climbing a series of Munros, we will tailor the day (or days) according to your desired level. Nothing quite compares to the allure of a bothy or tent set up in a unique spot after a day’s walking – and the sunrises on our overnight expeditions and multi-day journeys are always getting up for!

Climbing & BOULDERING

Our centres have easy access to single-pitch and multi-pitch crags in stunning locations, with enough to challenge the most adventurous rock athlete! Our on-site climbing walls make excellent all-weather options, and are also a great place for beginners to practice their newly learned skills and experts to hone their craft, as well as practicing bouldering techniques. Climbing develops dexterity and confidence and many people overcome their fear of heights through abseiling back down again!

Coasteering

See a different world come to light in front of your eyes when you access places no-one else can with a coasteering adventure! The beautifully rugged north coastline of Scotland, one hour’s drive from our Nethybridge centre, provides the fun of jumping in and out of the water, and the curiosity and dexterity of sea level traversing. With many places to camp, this day-long activity can also include an overnight expedition, creating special memories after a day in the water. This activity is for confident swimmers.

ABSEILING

Our easy access to local single-pitch and multi-pitch crags with beautiful views to the surrounding landscapes make excellent all-weather options for abseiling for all levels.  A great place for beginners to practice, as well as for experts to hone their craft or practice bouldering techniques.

OPEN CANOEING

Whether it’s on a calm loch, through white water on a river or as a varied coastal journey, an expedition on an open boat is an exciting challenge. Unlike kayaking, a Canadian canoe allows a shared experience and a chance to work as a team – as well as an easy way to carry equipment for nights away. Experiencing the stunning lochs, rivers and coastlines of Scotland is a must-do adventure!

MOUNTAIN BIKING

Journeying by mountain bike is a great way to explore and experience the beauty of nature. With a wide network of trails through stunning woodlands, many with natural features to enjoy, our Centres are well situated to offer some of Scotland’s best riding, whether it’s for a day or multi-day expeditions. With local bike parks right on our doorstep it’s easy to give mountain biking a try with your group or family – we’ll take you to some of our favourite hidden places!

ARCHERY

Archery is a favourite amongst some of our younger guests and with permanent archery areas on-site at our Centres we can set up the activities to suit your programme.

Gorge adventure

Experience being ‘in’ the water rather than ‘on’ the water. As you climb through the gorge, feel the strength of the water rushing past you, clambering through deep pools, narrow channels and thundering waterfalls. On the way back, find out what going with the flow really means! The gorge adventure is perfect for Autumn, when the water is warmer and the levels higher. This mixed-aged activity is available for confident swimmers.

LOW ROPES & Aerial RUNWAY

Our Centres are equipped with a variety of low and high ropes courses as well as an aerial runway to allow our younger guests to challenge themselves and grow in confidence throughout the week.

WINTER SPORTS & SKIING

Winter conditions can come in any month in the Cairngorms! From overnight snowhole expeditions to day trips into the snowy mountain environment, the Cairngorms always deliver an exhilarating winter day, whether on skis or on foot. Don’t be fooled that this is just for adults; it’s a remarkable (and fun) learning environment for young people. Staying in a bothy, making and warming up by a fire and finishing the day with a hot chocolate all make the adventurous overnight experience. Camera essential – you’ll capture some stunning views!

If you would like to discuss a tailor-made adventure experience for your group or family, please get in touch by completing our enquiry form or calling one of our centres.
