‘Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray’ (Luke 5:16). This is an opportunity to do just that. An individually guided retreat at Kilmalieu involves stepping away from the noise of a busy world to focus on our relationship with God. Participants are invited to join in the daily rhythm of prayer with the Kilmalieu Team and are offered opportunities for guidance, spiritual accompaniment and/or coaching. In addition, there is lots of time and space to pray, reflect and enjoy the rugged beauty of the mountains, the coastline and the woodlands that characterise the Kilmalieu estate.
This retreat can be booked for either 3 or 4 nights. The retreat is fully catered, starting with dinner after arrival on Friday and ending with breakfast before you leave on day of departure. Food is home-made and consistently praised for its quality. Guests have access to a small library, art room, lounge, chapel and gym and are free to explore the 3000 acre estate, where otters, seals, a diverse range of trees and birds, lichens, ferns and many other aspects of nature can be enjoyed.
This retreat is led by Dr Steve Aisthorpe and Rev Brenda Elwell-Sutton. Steve is the Centre Director at Kilmalieu, an experienced retreat leader, an accredited coach and author of various books, including Rewilding the Church and Knowing You, Jesus. Brenda is an Ordained Local Minister in the Church of Scotland, working in a team in Dundee. She enjoys a variety of craft activities as well as being outdoors and taking photographs of flora and fauna.
