‘What Next Lord?’: discerning your next steps

August 23, 2027 - August 27, 2027

Description

Are you approaching one of life’s crossroads? Or perhaps you just sense that change is on the horizon? These are times to pause, reflect and pray.

This retreat offers you the opportunity to explore the question, ‘What next, Lord?’ Each morning Dr Tom and Judi Walsh will help you explore how God has been shaping and guiding you. Every afternoon Dr Steve Aisthorpe, will offer a variety of options for personal reflection (out in nature or in the art room, using scripture, walking etc), to help you listen to God and prepare yourself for transition. ‘Dr Tom and Judi Walsh recently retired as cross-cultural mission partners for the Navigators. Their leading of this retreat in previous years was greatly appreciated by participants. Dr Steve Aisthorpe is Centre Director at Kilmalieu. All three have a wealth of experience of helping people to go deeper with God and discern their calling.

All options are … well, optional! Likewise, there will be possibilities for sharing experiences and insights with others, but there is certainly no expectation or pressure to do so. Throughout the week you will be invited to join in the daily rhythms of morning and evening prayers with the team at Kilmalieu. You will be offered a one-to-one time with one of the retreat leaders and there will be plenty of time to enjoy the rugged beauty of the mountains, woodland and coastline.

In response to feedback from similar retreats in past years, there is the option of staying on at Kilmalieu for a discounted two-day extension. This is an excellent opportunity to assimilate all that emerges during the week. During these additional days you will be offered a one-to-one time with Tom, Judi or Steve each day – and have full access to all the facilities and grounds to continue your own individual retreat.

Accommodation is in the renovated eighteenth-century hunting lodge, with a mixture of comfortable single, twin and family bedrooms. Some rooms have en-suite facilities, while others have shared toilet and shower facilities available.

The retreat is fully catered, starting with dinner after arrival on Monday and ending with breakfast on Friday (or Sunday for those who take the two day extension). Food is home-made and consistently praised for its quality. Guests have access to a small library, art room, lounge, chapel, gym and games room – and are free to explore the 3000-acre estate, where otters, seals, butterflies, lichens, ferns, incredible bird life and many other aspects of nature can be enjoyed.
