Wild Photography: Noticing God in the Detail

April 15, 2027 - April 19, 2027

Description

The natural beauty of Kilmalieu – with its hills, ancient woodlands and coastline – provides the perfect setting for a photography retreat … and we have the perfect team to lead it. Whether you have lots of experience or none, whether you use a phone or something more advanced, you will be encouraged to slow down, pay attention and see the world around you with fresh eyes.

Within a rhythm of morning and evening devotions and in a supportive and encouraging environment, photographer and all-round creative Fiona Caley will offer a series of informal, interactive and inspiring sessions. These will usually begin indoors and then be ‘on the move’ outside.

During the afternoons there will be plenty of time to explore the wonders of nature – and opportunities for guided reflection on some of your pictures with Kilmalieu team member, Esther Nyame and/or a creative session with Fiona in the art room or on a laptop.

Situated on the shores of Loch Linnhe, Kilmalieu enjoys a stunning Highland setting. This beautifully renovated eighteenth-century hunting lodge offers comfortable single, twin and family rooms, alongside homemade food that is consistently praised by guests.

During your stay, you will have access to the library, art room, lounge, chapel, games room, labyrinth and gym, as well as the extraordinary landscape that surrounds us.

Retreat Leaders

Fiona Caley uses photography and writing to capture her love of being out in the landscape. These creative companions have deepened her faith and her connection to place. She has worked as a freelance photographer and artist since 2007 and enjoys delivering workshops and curating project exhibitions.

Esther Nyame is a keen hobbyist photographer with a particular interest in combining photography, reflection and prayer. She finds that these practices are mutually enriching, helping people slow down, pay attention and truly see what is in front of them. She also holds a PGCert in Therapeutic Photography.
